Lia Kali triumphs at Premios de la Academia de la Música, Spanish’s #1 musical awards, taking home three prizes

Yesterday, May 26, Madrid’s IFEMA Municipal Palace rolled out the red carpet to host the gala ceremony for the third edition of Premios de la Academia de la Música. In just three years, and with the aim of broadly recognizing musical talent across more than 40 categories, the awards of the Spanish academy have already become the definitive “who’s who” of Spain’s current music scene and a key meeting point for the country’s music industry and scene.

The awards ceremony had three major protagonists: Rosalia, who won awards in eight categories, and Leiva and Lia Kali, who each took home three awards. The evening began in the afternoon with the presentation of up to twenty awards during a pre-gala designed to streamline the pace of the full event. Minor awards? Not at all. It was during that part of the evening that Lia Kali rose to prominence with a double recognition: the award for ‘Best Urban Song’ for “Chulx” alongside Eladio Carrión, included on her second album ‘Kaelis’, and the award for ‘Best Hip-Hop Song’ for her latest single “En La Cuerda Floja”, produced together with Granada-born hitmaker Toni Anzis. With barely any time to rest and holding a statuette in each hand, the artist from Barcelona’s La Teixonera neighborhood was crowned once again during the final stretch of the gala with one of the most coveted awards of the night: ‘Best Urban Music Album’. In this category she shared the nomination with Bejo, Delaossa, Rels B and Grecas, and the Academy jury ultimately chose to recognize the Barcelona artist’s second album, ‘Kaelis’, produced by Toni Anzis and Californian producer Larrance ‘Rance’ Dopson from the award-winning black music collective 1500 or Nothin’.

With these three new awards under her belt, Lia Kali puts the finishing touch on a 2026 filled with recognition for both her career and her second album at Catalan, Spanish and international level. Among the highlights are the 2026 Enderrock Critics’ Award for ‘Best Non-Catalan Language Album’, the 2025 ARC Award for ‘Best Tour’, the 2026 MIN Award for ‘Best Music Video’ for “Renacer”, the 2026 Odeón Award for ‘Alternative Breakthrough Artist’, and both the ‘Grand Jury Prize’ and the ‘Audience Award’ at the Music Moves Europe Awards held in Groningen during the ESNS Eurosonic Noorderslag festival.
